Wacky characters. Excellent Fun. The out of left field ending is not out of place in this madness. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls(1970) is an incredible bit of film-making that could only be a product of the 1970's — the early 1970's at that, what with the 60's influence that's stamped all over it.
Produced under contract with a major studio, this movie is the curious offspring of the Meyer approach to film-making married with Hollywood's approach; taking the best of both and producing something unique. The soundtrack is also wonderful, producing a number of songs that are regularly in my play list.
