Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970)

Wacky characters. Excellent Fun. The out of left field ending is not out of place in this madness. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) is an incredible bit of film-making that could only be a product of the 1970's — the early 1970's at that, what with the 60's influence that's stamped all over it.

Produced under contract with a major studio, this movie is the curious offspring of the Meyer approach to film-making married with Hollywood's approach; taking the best of both and producing something unique. The soundtrack is also wonderful, producing a number of songs that are regularly in my play list.
